Emerton has been appointed by AFGNV (The French Association of Natural Gas for Vehicles, today France Mobilité Gaz) to co-construct with the biogas ecosystem a development plan for biogas as fuel for heavy vehicles in France by 2033 and elaborate a support package for the public authorities.
Emerton jointly elaborated with main market players a development plan which is commonly shared by the biogas ecosystem
Emerton proposed concrete measures to bring the development plan to the attention of public authorities
Report (known as Emerton AFGNV report) has been used as a reference document by the different stakeholders.
Step 1: Assessment of as-is situation and identification of biogas as fuel development drivers:
- Analysis of current fleet, fuel characteristics and likely evolutions
- Identification of the drivers of fuel transition and their expected impacts on biogas’ share (regulation, etc.)
Step 2: Modeling of the demand evolution in the 10 coming years
- Construction of an analytical projection model based on the annual vehicle registration rate and fuel consumption
- Co-definition of the assumptions and modeling of the number of vehicles, biogas volumes, refueling stations…
Step 3: Analysis of regulatory context likely to drive the use of biogas for heavy road transport
- Identification of the structuring measures necessary for the effective realization of the development plan
- Detailed analysis on the price of biogas as fuel and competitiveness with diesel
