Our client, a major industrial conglomerate, has set ambitious targets for decarbonizing its industrial activities. To achieve these objectives, it will need to produce significant volumes of green hydrogen.
Our objectives were to :
· Inventory major innovations in the fields of production, conversion, transport and storage of the green hydrogen value chain,
· Identify the companies and startups driving these innovations in Europe and Israel,
· Establish a short list of the most promising companies and start-ups for partnerships to achieve medium andlong-term objectives,
· In addition, description of the hydrogen importation ecosystem and relevant regulation in Europe.
Strong recognition by our client that Emerton’s report was a relevant working basis to build their hydrogen ecosystem.
The shortlisted entities were approached as part of a European roadshow organized to discuss the terms of a partnership.
Step 1 : align on scope, geography and key criteria for screening companies andstartups,
Step 2 : perform characterization and initial screening of nearly 200 companiesand startups,
Step 3 : realize targeted blind interviews with a selection of key playersincluding start-ups, SME, mid to large-scale energy players, academic players,research consortiums, industrial alliances,
Step 4 : build a shorts list of 30 companies and startups, per segment and partof domain targeted of the value chain for developing partnerships.
Step 5 : Executive summary on regulation describing : European regulations currently being drawn up, financial mechanisms and auctions underway in Europe for the import of green hydrogen, existingor planned port and transport infrastructures.
